Surrealism photograph
1. It took me quite a while to come up with the idea for this photograph, and though I like this picture, it is still not exactly as I had originally planned. I knew from the start that I wanted to include the sword (which I made for an art project last semester out of pen parts), as well as photoshopping it to have natural elements worked into it i.e. the gravel, fire, and water. During the photo shoot I decided to add in the cloak, and photoshop it to look like the night sky. 2. I attempted a series of photographs with the sword, as this was an element that I was certain about from the very beginning. I had some issue with the modelling, and trying to make the posing look natural. As I went along, I decided that it would be best to add the cloak, as it added another dimension to the photos. This meant a whole new series of photographs, which I then went through to find the best. Once I had the best, I gathered photographs of the night sky, fire, gravel, water, and a forest, which I then photoshopped together to create the final photograph. 3. With this photograph I tried to create a sort of connection between the mystical and the natural world. The figure is supposed to represent some sort of mystical being, who is cloaked in the night sky and carries the elements in its hands. The sword is meant to represent the more dangerous aspect of fire, earth, and water, which can be overlooked for their beauty. I felt that a natural setting would suit the idea, possibly making the figure appear more mysterious. |
